Damharidra (Berberis aristata, Stem):

It prevents splitting and induces darkening in light coloured hair. It is antiseptic in action.

Mandur (Calyx of Iron):

Mandur Bhasma is an Ayurvedic medicine prepared from Iron Oxide. Balances Vata, Pitta and Kapha. It has special effect to balance Pitta. It also imparts black colour to the hair.

Shati (Hedychium Spicatum, Rhizome):

Studies on the essential oil of the Hedychium spicatum rhizomes reveal that it possesses a mild tranquilizing effect of short duration. It shows vasodilatory effect. It imparts flavour to the oil.

Karchur (Curcuma zedoaria, Rhizome):

It is Aromatic, stimulant, rubefacient and antiseptic.

Musta (Cyperus Rotundus, Rhizome):

It helps in hair growth and imparts flavour to the oil.

Til Tail (Oil of Sesamum indicum seed):

Bhringraj (Eclipta alba, Whole Plant):

Sariva (Hemidesmus indicum, Root):

Shaileyak(Parmelia perlata, Whole Plant):

The plant pacifies vitiated kapha, pitta, wounds, infections, inflammation, skin diseases. It keeps the head cool.

Chandan (Santalum Album, Heart Wood):

The medicinal properties of sandalwood reside in the oil, which can be pressed from the wood or extracted with alcohol or water. The antiseptic and disinfectant properties of this oil are similar to those of cubeb oil. Sandalwood oil was found to be effective against Microsporum canis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes & T. rubrum but ineffective against Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger, A.fumigatus in comparison to Tolnaphtate and clotrimoxazole.

Shatpatrika (Rosa Centifolia, Flower):

The flowers has cooling, emollient, aromatic, intellect-promoting and rejuvenating. It inhibits vasoconstriction. It shows potent antibacterial activity.

Ushir (Vetiveria Zizanioides, Root):

Vetiver oil is regarded as stimulant, diaphoretic and refrigerant. It relieves headache. The essential oil of vetiver has extensive applications and possesses sedative property and has traditionally been used in aroma therapy for relieving stress, anxiety, nervous tension and insomnia.

Talispatra (Abies Webbiana, Leaf):

It relieves headache. Previous workers reported that the crude extracts from the leaves of the plant had antibacterial, mast cell stabilizing, anxiolytic, anti-tumour, anti-inflammatory, antitussive and CNS depressant actions.

Jatamansi (Nardostachys Jatamansi, Root):

Action and uses in Ayurved are (Brain tonic), Rasayana (Rejuvenative to the mind), Nidrajnana (Promotes sleep), Manasrogaghna (Alleviates mental diseases), Kushtaghna (Stops skin diseases and itching), Daha prashamana (Stops burning sensations), Varnya (Benefits complexion) and Roma sanjanana (Promotes hair growth). Nardostachys jatamansi also possess hair fall retardation and hair growth promotion activity.

Brihat Ela (Amomum subulatum, Seed):

It shows antibacterial and antifungal effect. Petroleum ether extracts of large cardamom showed antimicrobial activity and were found active on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli (-ve) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (-ve) bacteria. Likewise, the essential oil from seed was found to have significant inhibitory effect against various keratinophilic and dermophytic fungi.

The quantity of the oil should be in proportion to the length and density of your hair so as to be applicable on your complete hair. Apply oil on the tip of your fingers & rub it gently on the base of your hair enabling it to penetrate in to the roots of your hair. Slow application & massage of hair only would yield better results. Let the oil gradually seep into roots of your hair & nourish them for the whole night.
